Level Money: Spend Confidently and Achieve Balance App Reviews

The update is TERRIBLE

I LOVED the old version. Now it has been updated and is VERY clunky. It randomly jumps up and down the scrolling areas, causing me to constantly try and refind my place. It was showing doubles of every transaction so I closed the app and reopened... Now there is triple of every transaction. You used to be able to swipe left or right to classify a transaction, now you have to dig down into a menu. Also, while using the app my 6S was running VERY hot (that never happens for me) and it sucked the life of of my battery. Overall, this update is horrible and unfortunately, if this is the product they want to "update" to, I will no longer be using this app. This was a MAJOR step in the wrong direction. :(

Level is easy to set up, functional, and truly useful when planning and following through with a budget.

UPDATE: redesign is useless

Update 2: nice, level. Release a new version with no substantive changes to clean your ratings. Still 1 star. Update 1: Im updating my old review and downgrading to 1 star for the new version. Now that the app has been redesigned, the only features I care about - daily and weekly budgets - are just gone. I dont need fancy graphs or trackers. I just want an app that checks my accounts, deducts my bills and savings, and uses the remaining total to calculate a budget for me, and youd think that would be simple, but this app doesnt even do that anymore. Now, my spendable shows my entire income *not excluding* bills, so when a rent check hits, the "spendable" drops by a thousand bucks and it looks like I blew a ton of cash overnight because it was never really "spendable" to begin with. Theres no budget tool anymore; the only hint I have as to how Im doing with day to day spending is a line showing me where the app thinks I should be today. It has no dollar amount next to it. No way to know how much I should have spent or how much I actually have spent - I can see Im below target, but by how much? No way to see how much I need to cut back for the following week to get back to the goal. No way to know how much I can spend daily if I want to spread out the remaining money over the rest of the month. All of these were features Level used to offer, and the sole reason I kept putting up with this frequently buggy app. Now theres nothing this app offers that I need anymore, so Im going to go see if theres another app that does what this one stopped doing.

Nice design but...

Where is the touchID support ??

Needs fingerprint with support

Pretty good app but the lack of fingerprint authentication makes it a pain to use.

Recent updates ruined the app

The app worked great until the recent updates. Now transactions are recorded multiple times and you cant erase them. What good is an app designed to track my spending if it does not accurately do so?

IT WAS GREAT but...

Update3: PLEASE. Please please please just make it more similar to the old one. this is NOT more intuitive. And many people agree. Update 2: I have officially deleted the app and downloaded Mint by intuit. Sad day. Id say the creators need to get back to the old version or I, and many others, will never be back to Level money again. Update: NOOOOO! What is this nonsense?? It used to be amazing and intuitive and now this??? Its glitchy and slow and I dont really understand whats happening. You call this simplification?? Its so incredibly unintuitive now....PUT IT BACK MAKE IT BETTER

Widget and 3D Touch PLEASE!

There is no swipe anymore, please do something. 3D Touch will be awesome for this app.

Version 3.0 ruined a great app

I used to love Level but the recent version 3.0 updated ruined the app for me. Previous versions let you set a series of trackers for common purchases, which either compared your spending from month to month or gave you a grand total. These trackers were all displayed together on one page for easy reference. However, now you have to go to a menu item to see your trackers and you can only view them individually. It seems Level is trying to become Mint but since I already have Mint I now dont have an need anymore for Level - or at least this new version.

Broken Again

Its a real shame that once one of my most useful apps has been completely ruined with a poor design and unwieldy amount of bugs. This needs a SERIOUS rethink. The app is completely useless.

Used to be great

I was so excited to see an update hoping that things would change back to the way they used to be. Nope. Im so irritated and disappointed . Ive never relied so heavily on an app that used to be the best thing ever. Its so useless now. How many times do you have to be asked to just change it back to the simplified version? Seriously! Get it together Level!!

The bug fixes dont make this any better than the previous version. Still a step backwards. Upgrade 3.0 utterly destroyed anything fun or useful about this app.

Update ruined the app, buggy

Problem #1: transactions are duplicated for May 1-6 and hasnt been fixed, things are appearing 3x and I cant delete or fix. Marking as "Dont Count" affects all 3 even though I want 1 to count. This means that the app thinks Im out of Spendable for the month, destroying the functionality of the app. Problem #2: new format makes it HARDER to see trackers since you cant see all of them at once. PLEASE fix the duplication bug and go back to the previous formatting.

GO BACK

Go back to the previous version please!

What happened?

Im not sure what happened to this app, but what was most useful to me about it was the daily, weekly, and monthly predictions of spendable amounts. The visual of the equation (income-bills-something else I cant remember=spendable) was really nice and comforting to see the inputs all in one picture. Anyway, my spendable has started duplicating a lot of transactions. Its as if its not knocking off the pending transaction after the transaction goes through? Ive verified with my online accounts to make sure theyre not duplicating. The way it was before was definitely more useful. The projected amounts are sort of useful, but not really, because you cant select on the graph what transactions are factored in to cause the jumps in the spending algorithm.

Please go back

For the love of God, please go back to the old UI.

Bug after bug

When you try to create a new tracker, you have to select every single transaction or vendor in one try. If you try to add another payment from a different vendor later on, it will delete every payment you saved and override it.

A great concept, lost.

I was an avid fan of Level. It helped me think about my finances differently. It was simple, easy to understand, intuitive, and helped motivate me to behaviorally control my spending. 3.0 is a colossal step backwards to what Level stood for. Its too complex, full of bugs/crashes, and completely lacks the features that made it incredibly useful. Capital One, who bought Level, makes it feel like they WANT you to spend money. Not save. Saving features have been stripped. If it does not mold into what it once stood for, Ill have to very sadly delete it. Dont die on me, Level! Switching to Cashpath as recommended by others.

New version is excellent

Clean and informative

Seriously, Just go back to Previous Version

Ditto most everyone in these reviews. I got this app just before the update and loved that it only took 5-10 minutes to set-up all my bank connections, spending trackers, & see how I was spending my money, as well as how much I had left to spend. On the new app, I dont understand the new spending setup, and where is the functionality to tell the Level these deposits are savings already dont count them? Long story short, either they went overboard on simplifying or they just plain made everything more complicated. Level, Just go back to previous version, Please.
