Level Money: Spend Confidently and Achieve Balance App Reviews

Currently poorly executed

Ive been tracking using Level for about 3 months. It took some time to set up initially, but was pretty good afterwards. Enjoyed being able to see how much and where we spent our cash. From frivolous spending, to coffee, to meals out. The app always had a bit of a touchscreen issue, but now I wonder if the developers know Im still using a touchscreen? This app is unresponsive. The original dashboard was much better. Is a transfer a bill? If I transfer a lump sum from checking to savings or electric send money to pay bills, are these transfers? If I allocate X dollars for savings where is this actually displayed or accounting for me to pull. Right now I have Investment set up as a bill. Great app in theory and I was very impressed initially. Level tried to make things all fancy by adding scatter plots and timeline graphs....we dont need them? Whos bank account has that much variation??? You earn X, you spend Y. Please go back to the tool you once were. My wife has some bomb excel worksheets tjst make you look silly level- you dont want that. We can do better

What were they thinking?

Before the recent update, this was my most used app. Easy to use, I had a clear window into my finances, invaluable. But now I have no idea what my budget should look like. Its completely useless and utterly confusing. Trying to figure out how to edit a bill is an exercise in futility. They seem to have removed (or hidden) the ability to change a bills frequency (monthly, yearly, etc). I heavily relied on the old timeline that showed "unseen" bills, but its gone. Not that any of that really matters because now none of my bills are reducing my spendable. In short, I no longer have any idea what I can spend on any given day. Back to pen and paper.

Its missing things for me

This app was pretty good when I first got it. You would say how much you wanted to save and it would calculate how much you could spend based on how much you make. The problem is, they updated it and now is how much do you want to spend a month. Which can be great for some people! But for me, not so much. They need to make it so you can pick between the two. You can either choose how much to save or how much to spend. Also, sometimes all my transactions will double and itll say I spent double what Ive actually spent for the month which just screws everything up. For these reasons I had to knock off two stars.

Took the savings portion away

I was looking through the new version of the app and the ability to put in how much to allocate to savings is gone. That was the whole reason I liked this app and not the others and now its gone. I like the old version better.

I have no idea what this redesign is

It says my monthly spend is 20k and all from my savings?

What a disappointment

Much better after update. Working well for me and transactions seem to finally be updating multiple times per day. Still needs some work, but promising.

Excellent update

I had level installed before v3.0 came out. I never used it. But since v3.0 came out, it is easily my favorite finance management app. Much simpler, and most importantly, it makes me *enjoy* money management—something no other app has accomplished for me

track dat money

Once you get over the learning curve of how to use it, its great. Sometimes has server issues but overall works well. Bring back the widget!

Please Revert

The latest update made this app unusable. Removed so many features that made this app life changing for me. Now I cant even set my spendable until the first of the month. Please revert to the old version until you fix this. 3.0.1 update. Still broken. Still useless.

App works great!

This app has gone through some radical changes, and I really dont like it as much, please change back. While the GUI looks a lot more flash, its a lot less comprehensive. Not a fan.

Old version was SO much better

Im revising the 5-star review I posted last year and making it a 1-star. Last years review raved about how this app made budgeting a simple and painless process. Now Im looking for a new budgeting app. The recent update is so much more complicated than its predecessor. Why go and fix something that wasnt broken? I used to use this app every day and now I dont want to open it. Bye bye Level. Call me when you switch back to your original simplicity.

Great app ruined by update

Used to be a terrific way to manage finances. New update makes it impossible to set income, bills, and budget. New user interface is cluttered and difficult to use. Almost useless to me now, hopefully an update can address this mess.

Extremely useful budget tracker

When I saw the reviews for this first, I decided not to download the app..but after trying a few other unsatisfactory apps, I thought I would give this a try...its been perfect so far. There are a few features that still need work, but for a casual user like me, this is a very easy to use app, that serves its purpose.

Amazing budgeting app

Guys what did you do with this new update? Its broken!!! Its totally unusable now.

Upgrade is a bomb

I have been on Level for a month and was initially totally impressed by it. Heck it notified me about my tax return being deposited faster than my bank itself! However, I recently upgraded it and - whoa - user friendly interface died a silent death. My little pie chart plan disappeared, together with my customized "dont count" (I have budgeted outflows into investment accounts that pay for tuition and large expenses and did not want to double count). At the moment I am asking for a roll-back... If not I will be sadly gone.

Why the change?!

This app was the easiest and most effective budgeting app. Now its just another clunky budgeting app. Can you bring back the old level?

Redesign is lacking

I loved Spendable, but the redesigned interface is not as intuitive. I miss a lot of the features of the last version. Maybe Im not understanding the new layout? I really liked seeing which of my bills had cleared; I used it to ensure I had my bases covered. I also cant tell where my spendable has gone, since the transactions are now a feed rather than a list. Perhaps it takes getting used to, but I feel like its not as user-friendly.

What have you done?

This app was almost perfect. Sure it did miss some featured but I always preferred to all others due to ease of use? This is 10 steps backwards. No more quick total net worth balance? No more swipe? No more editing transaction. I have same check show up 50 times for some reason. My spendable shows 100k this month and there is no way to fix it. I keep going back to this app hoping it will grow on me but its awful. Keep hoping they will roll it back to the old version. Whats worse there is nothing like the old version in the App Store. There are many like the new version. Number one rule of UX and UI is not to make huge changes. Havent you learn this from Windows 8. Please go back to your old app and really rethink this new one. It may be wasted Money but loosing thousands of users may not be recoverable.
